We are a way for the universe to know itself.”― Carl Sagan  The team drew inspiration from the spark of the Gleam logo to create an installation that prompts reflection and relationships between space and our humanity. Can you see yourself reflected in the stars?

Artist Bios

Cricket Design Works Team

Miranda Smith, Michael Sambar, and Cricket and Phil Redman work together at Cricket Design Works, a digital marketing and branding agency, based in Madison, WI. Cricket has been a member of the Gleam team since 2019. She’s an avid gardener, yogi, artist, and creative director. Miranda Smith is a mixed media installation artist, sculptor, and printmaker who also brings her creativity into her work as a UX/UI designer. Michael Sambar is a creative director at Cricket Design Works, a photographer, and a musician (Mossmen and Dak Dubois & Co). Phil is a developer and partner at Cricket Design Works, a musician (You of all People) and serves on the Board of the Arts & Literature Laboratory, where he and Cricket curate Auricle, an experimental music series.

Mark Penisten

Mark is a Madison native and previous GLEAM artist who is happy to be joining the team to support this event in a new way. His real job is managing the theatre at Madison East High School, as well as supporting the other three MMSD high school theatre programs. He also sometimes does lighting design for a handful of local dance companies, and dabbles in whatever other opportunities arise to play with light and color.
