Enter the maze of sculptures and try to identify the featured flora and fauna! The key to unlock maze - use your phone camera to identify the shadow imagery. There's also a link to the map below. When your ready to continue on the exhibit route walk through the rainbow hedge wall.

Inside the Installation

Materials: Plywood, fiberglass, 3D printed plastic, LEDs, and enamel paint

  1. Check out the shadow map to help identify all of the images.

  2. The lanterns are made with a mathematical concept called stereographic projection.

  3. The LEDs are custom made by the artist.

  4. The 3D printing used recycled plastic by a “first-of-its-kind” recycling program researching the development of zero-waste cities.

Artist Bio

Oliver Lewis

Oliver Lewis is a visual artist educated in mathematics, robotics, and chemical engineering. His diverse skill set and experience enable him to create visually striking installations that engage the public in the principles of science and mathematics. He worked with several organizations, such as the Levine Children's Hospital, Discovery Place, Maker Faire CLT, Charlotte Center City Partners, Blumenthal Performing Arts, the City of Raleigh, Charlotte International Artist Festival, and US Bank. He spoke about his creative journey at TEDx Charlotte.
